WELCOME TO ROSES LIVESTOCK COMPANY

Roses Livestock Company was founded in 2006 and is owned by Mariam Rose Horton. Located west of Christmas Valley, Oregon, the ranch can be found along your drive of North Oil Dry Road.

The ranch was started as a small 4-H project in 2006, but by Mariam’s graduation year, the flock of ewes could be counted to close to 2,000 head. Currently the ranch contains mainly full blood Targee ewes, although a couple of Suffolk and crosses can be found running with the mob since Mariam and LeeRoy are still partial to their roots. In more reason times Mariam has decided to experiment with different with face breeds of rams to develop her ideal product. The ewes are lambed inside and then summered in the mountains with our herders.

In Mariam’s FFA years she decided to develop a herd of registered Angus cattle. With her cattle, she competed at regional and national shows and developed a large heart for the beautiful black cattle. The direction of her herd changed from year to year, being founded on EPDs, bred toward structure and design, then in more reason times developed for producing practical bulls and high production numbered females with eye appeal.

2018 was the first time Mariam was able to offer dogs for sale. Selling Akbash guard dogs raised with the sheep, ready to go to other herds to help cut down on predator problems. Her passion behind this idea to raise dogs was that she found so much help from the protection against coyotes and ravens. Rooted much deeper was her natural love for dogs growing up with one always trotting in her shadow and truly being passionate about the therapeutic advantage of a good dog.
